It has to do with Acura.
I think they’re going to get serious about a sports lineup, given Honda’s new attitude towards !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! If Acura wants to do this, they should choose a good name.
Type-R and Type-S are both options, but I don’t think those are the best options. A performance moniker should sound serious.
Imagine this: performance Acuras called “Integra.”
All in the name of heritage. Since they’re no longer making the Integra, it would be a good idea to give the name of one of the greatest FWD performance cars ever built to performance-oriented FWD/AWD Acuras.
It’s such a sexy name too. Admit it, your penis tingles whenever you say the word “Integra.” Go on, try it out. INTEGRA.
ILX Integra
TLX Integra
RLX Integra
And if they want to go the BMW route:
RDX Integra
MDX Integra
(Note: a possible hotter NSX should still be called NSX-R, in my opinion. And maybe make a limited-production NSX-R GT based on the GT3 car with a non-functioning roof intake for the lulz.)
Now I’m bracing for all the critics to come by and tell me that I’m stupid.

I’ve heard worse ideas. The thing is, with Integra, people might associate not with a performance machine (because not every model was), but just a base Acura model.

I owned an Integra. It was awesome... when I drove past Vigors and Legends, my penis tingled even more.
ILX Integra
TLX Vigor
RLX Legend
In other news, I looked at Acura’s website recently... other than the stupid NSX (stupid cuz I can’t afford it), there are no 2 door manual vehicles and that’s a crime in itself.

Please no.
I agree with CB, I’ve heard worse ideas (See

You’re right, it’s a JDM model called the Euro-R. It got its name because it was (very) loosely based on the European Type R

There was a European-market Accord Type-R (the white car you posted), and there was a Japanese-market Accord Euro-R (the blue car).

I'd say a good moniker would be HMS for Honda Motor Sports, but that's kind of used on boats, so it might have a negative connotation. Maybe a name that has to do with racing heritage, like Suzuka? How would an Acura TSX Suzuka sound?

Honda sort of has HPD (Honda Performance Development) which is the name given to the aero package on the Accord.

People only steal Integras because they're easy to steal. Not because of the name.

Car enthusiasts will recognize the Integra Type R and GSR, which is the whole point. And these are the people that a performance Acura will be marketed towards.

That plagues every Honda. Because there are so many on the road, parts on the black market are in high demand. Again, people chose the Integra to steal because they were ridiculously easy to steal. The same would be of my Accord if it also had a shitty anti-theft system.

... but not really. Look at how many M cars BMW sells. Are those because people want a performance car with amazing lap times, or because it’s simply the most expensive model?

“Integra” makes me cringe. The bro-car-culture back in my highschool in the late 90s was all about the Integras.

If a non-car enthusiast wants to buy a $70,000 BMW, they’re not buying a 3-series, they’re buying a 6-series.

Hmm, it really isn’t a bad name, but I think it would undermine the integra in and of itself. Right now they have the A-spec for the trim additions, I think getting the Type-S back would be nice with a more race inspired version being given the name of Type-R being perfectly acceptable. In fact the NSX-R type of naming would be fine by me.
ILX-S, ILX-R that would be fine.

Acura ditched the Integra name because it was harming their upmarket ambitions, mainly because of the sort of clientele that was buying them second hand.
